1. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that contain data and are stored on your device when you visit a website.

Cookies can be used by a website to identify and track users as they navigate different pages, and to identify users returning to a website.

There are two types of cookies, “persistent” cookies and “session” cookies. A persistent cookies consists of a text file sent from a website to a website browser, which will be stored by the website browser until its set expiry date (unless it is deleted by the user and/or website before the expiry date). A session cookie will expire at the end of the user’s session, when the website browser is closed (unless the cookie is stored for a specific amount of time and/or it is deleted by the website).

2. Which cookies does eduKUDU use and why?

a. Strictly necessary cookies These cookies are essential in helping you to move around our websites and to use features that require them (see below for examples). Without these cookies, services you are trying to use cannot be provided. These cookies do not gather information about you personally or where you have been on the internet and will not be used for marketing / advertising purposes.

Below are some examples of strictly necessary cookies that are used on our websites:

  • Remembering how you have navigated through a website (such as registration forms with multiple steps)
  • Remembering information you have entered into forms, so the information can be used on another page
  • Identifying that you have logged into a website and to stop you from having to login again next time you visit and/or when you navigate to a different page on the website

b. Functional cookies

These cookies allow our websites to remember choices you have made (see below for examples). These cookies usually gather anonymous information, which means we cannot identify you personally. These cookies do not gather information about you or where you have been on the internet and will not be used for marketing / advertising purposes.

Below are some examples of functional cookies that are used on our websites:

  • Remembering that you have been to a website before, so information for first time visitors is not displayed to you
  • Supporting social media services, such as Facebook, Twitter or YouTube (where a website uses a plugin provided from the third party, see further down this policy for more information)

For a full list of functional cookies used by eduKUDU or if you have any questions, please see section 4.

c. Tracking cookies

In order to keep our websites up-to-date, relevant and easy to use, we use Google Analytics services to understand how visitors use them. For example, we can see which parts of a website are the most and least popular, so we can concentrate website content accordingly.

Google Analytics is a service that is designed and operated by Google on our behalf. This works by using small invisible images known as “web beacons” or “tracking pixels” that may be included in the website. These web beacons are anonymous and do not contain or collect any information, which means we cannot identify you personally. They are used to count the number of times something has been requested by a user.

Google Analytics may also use cookies and/or other similar technologies to make the information collected by web beacons more useful. When you are viewing a website, a cookie is stored on your device and it can only be retrieved by the website that gave it to you.

All information gathered by Google Analytics is anonymous information, which means we cannot identify you personally.

d. Third party cookies

Some pages on our websites will set cookies that are not related to eduKUDU. When you visit a page with embedded content, such as YouTube or Facebook, these service providers may set their own cookies on your device.

These cookies usually gather anonymous information, which means they cannot identify you personally. These cookies may or may not be set by the service provider, so that they can track the success of their application and/or to customise their application to you.

eduKUDU does not control third party cookies and cannot access them due to the way that the cookies work. Third party cookies can only be accessed by the website that originally set them. eduKUDU is not responsible for these cookies and you should check the third party’s website for more information about their cookies.

3. Blocking / deleting cookies

eduKUDU does not use cookies to collect personally identifiable information about you, as explained in earlier sections of this policy. These cookies are set to improve your experience on our websites and to enable you to benefit from specific features and set user preferences which would otherwise be unavailable.

However, there are various ways that you can control and manage your cookies, discussed in more detail below.

a. Cookies in your website browser

Website browsers allow you to accept cookies from certain websites and/or delete any cookies that have already been set. If you would like to learn more about how to manage cookies in your website browser, please click here and select your website browser from the list.

Please remember that changing these settings will affect all websites that you visit (unless you choose to block cookies from particular websites).

b. Google Analytics cookies

It is possible to opt out of having your anonymous information shared with Google Analytics. Please remember that by not allowing Google Analytics to use cookies, this will stop us from being able to learn what users like or don’t like about our websites and how we can make them better.

If you would like to disable Google Analytics cookies visit http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout
